If you’re a car guy (or girl), you probably know who Karl Benz, Henry Ford, or Charles Goodyear are: Benz invented the first motorcar, Ford made cars affordable with mass production by moving assembly lines and Goodyear invented vulcanized rubber. These men and others like them have made great strides in making everyday motoring possible.
Postcards from Pedring
I remember Ondoy clearly… well, in my case, as clear as that sleepy Saturday morning allowed.
I can still see those floodwaters rising on our street, black at first, and then turning into that sinister brown, telling us that it was already from the river nearby. There was nowhere to go. We were helpless about it.
When OK is not good enough
It’s funny what ideas you get when doing mundane, everyday things.
When I went downstairs to get a kilo of good beef, I accidentally dropped a chunk on the floor. The butcher went down to pick it up, but instead of tossing it in the bin, he just rinsed it with water and put it back with the others… even while I was still in the shop.
Targeted
We see it all the time. Someone, somewhere, does something silly and becomes the butt of all ridicule, insults, and all sorts of hostility on YouTube or Facebook. The list of those who have been the victims of this is long, and getting longer.
Leading By Example
Just recently, a friend of ours sent us a this photo of a bus billowing smoke into our air. Of course, this is a normal sight on our highly polluted streets, but when you take a closer look, you’ll notice that it’s not one of those for hire buses that ply the commercial routes; it’s an MMDA vehicle.
What the hell?
