When Chinese mobile phone giant Xiaomi announced they were going to make cars several years ago, some were either amused or bewildered by the news. How can a brand known for making smartphones suddenly join the EV market without prior experience?

Well, several years later and collaborating with BAIC to produce their EVs, Xiaomi has become one of the fastest EV brands in the automotive industry. In fact, Xiaomi appears to be planning to officially launch its vehicles in the Philippines.

This comes after an anonymous tipster sent pictures of what appeared to be an official Xiaomi dealership somewhere in Baliuag, Bulacan. Based on the info we received, the Xiaomi dealership appears to be selling both the YU7 and SU7 EVs, which serve as the brand's crossover SUV and sedan offerings, respectively.

Starting with the YU7 crossover, this Xiaomi has up to 835 km of range, based on the CLTC standard, thanks to a 96.3 kWh battery pack. In the Philippines, the YU7 will reportedly only come with a single electric motor that produces 320 PS with 528 Nm of torque. It can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 5.88 seconds and has a top speed of 240 km/h.

Want something with more oomph? There's also the YU7 Pro and YU7 Max. The Pro gets dual-electric motors, which generate a combined 496 PS with 690 Nm of torque and have a range of up to 770 km, thanks to a 101.7 kWh battery pack. It can catapult itself from 0 – 100 km/h in just 4.27 seconds.

Then there's the YU7 Max, which also gets a 101.7 kWh battery pack but makes a combined 691 PS and 866 Nm of torque. This allows it to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.23 seconds and still have a range of up to 760 km.

Based on information we received, the YU7 reportedly retails for PHP 3.999M, while the YU7 Pro is selling for PHP 4.299M. Meanwhile, the YU7 Max has a sticker price of PHP 4.999M.

Next is the Xiaomi SU7. The range starts with the standard SU7, which has a single electric motor that makes 299 PS with 400 Nm of torque and is paired to a 73.6 kWh battery pack. This gives it a range of up to 668 km and can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds.

Next is the SU7 Pro, which also gets a single electric motor pushing 299 PS, but gets a larger 94.3 kWh battery pack. This gives it a range of up to 830 km, but it is slower from 0 – 100 km/h at 5.7 seconds, due to the larger battery.

Last but not least is the SU7 Max, which has a 101 kWh battery pack that feeds a pair of electric motors. The result is a combined 673 PS with 618 Nm of torque and the ability to go from 0 – 100 km/h in only 2.78 seconds. It also has a range of up to 800 km.

Pricing for the SU7 range is not available, although we won't be surprised if it's more affordable by a smaller margin compared to the YU7.

With Xiaomi apparently already having a dealership in the Philippines, it might not be long before we start seeing more Xiaomi EVs populating our roads. The only question now is, is this dealer a gray market importer or a direct subsidiary that has yet to make its presence known?
