VinFast reveals next-gen VF8 with 500 km range
New generation VinFast VF8 is shorter, more powerful, and has greater range
VinFast is steadily maturing as an automotive company. It’s only been a few years since the brand made its global debut, and now they’re releasing the first model to enter its second generation. The Vietnamese carmaker has revealed the all-new VF8 SUV – a D-segment EV that wants to show what VinFast has learned in the past few years as a manufacturer.

Promising to deliver notable improvements to both driving performance and overall user experience, the new generation VF8 is actually smaller than the existing model that it is replacing.
The vehicle measures 4701 mm long, 1872 mm wide, 1,670 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2840 mm. For reference, it is 49 mm shorter, 62 mm narrower, 3 mm taller, and its wheelbase, compared to the first-generation VF8, is shorter by 110 mm. Ground clearance, on the other hand, is 170 mm.
The new generation VF8 debuts the “Tech Fluid” design language, as it sports smoother lines and sleeker detailing. The front fascia gets more gloss black elements, but retains the VinFast V light bar and its prominent grille.

On its side profile, there’s a sharp upwards kink on the windows, with smoother character lines complementing the flush door handles. The rear end also appears sleeker with a completely new design, but keeps the signature V-shaped LED light strip with black cladding for contrast.

VinFast continues its minimalist cabin design for the new generation VF8, with some notable additions such as a dedicated digital instrument cluster for the driver, a smaller 12.9-inch screen for infotainment, climate control, and vehicle settings, while the center console now features charging pads instead of the gear selector. Speaking of which, VinFast joins a list of brands that have their gear selectors mounted on the steering column.
The new generation VF8 is powered by a single electric motor that produces 231 PS and 330 nm of torque. With a 60.13 kWh battery pack, VinFast claims a driving range of up to 500 km using the NEDC standards. In terms of recharging, the VF8’s fast charging feature replenishes the battery from 10 to 70% in under 30 minutes.

VinFast has also fitted the new VF8 with Frequency Selective Dampers (FSD), which adjusts damping characteristics depending on road conditions. Lastly, the new VF8 comes with a comprehensive list of ADAS features such as Highway Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Warning, and a 360-degree camera.
Vietnam gets first dibs on the new generation VF8, but we can expect VinFast to offer the model in other markets as part of its global expansion.
