BYD's smallest and perhaps cutest EV yet gets a much-needed upgrade for the 2026 model year. Not only does it get more range, but it also comes with additional amenities and intelligent driver aids to keep the drivers and passengers safe.

Say hello to the 2026 BYD Seagull, and while it may still look the same, BYD was busy giving it more standard features, and then some. For starters, the 2026 Seagull can now achieve up to 405 km of range, thanks to a bigger 38.88 kWh battery pack that's available on higher-grade models. The standard 30.08 kWh battery pack has been carried over and continues to provide a range of up to 305 km.

As before, a single electric motor drives the front wheels of the BYD Seagull. It makes 74 PS along with 135 Nm of torque. Size-wise, the Seagull measures 3780mm long, 1715mm wide, and 1540mm tall on a 2500mm wheelbase.

In terms of looks, the 2026 Seagull looks relatively the same as before. However, the automaker did introduce new color options, which include Mango Orange and Mint Green. The result is a more strikingly bright hue for the tiny EV. It is then complemented by new 16-inch alloy wheels and revised LED taillights.

In case you haven't noticed it yet, the 2026 Seagull is now available with a LiDAR system on the roof via the optional “God's Eye B” intelligent driver assistance system (DiPilot 300). This gives the Seagull nifty ADAS features like City Navigation on Autopilot (CNOA), traffic light recognition, and the ability to navigate a roundabout.

Hop inside, and the 2026 BYD Seagull features a slightly updated cabin. Those who are used to the toggle-style gear selector will find what appears to be a new electronic column-style shifter. There's also an updated 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 3D vehicle control. New amenities available in the 2026 Seagull include a 50W wireless charging pad, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver's seat.

With the 2026 BYD Seagull now available in China, perhaps it might not be long before BYD Cars Philippines eventually brings it to the country.
