We already know that Omoda Jaecoo Motor Philippines (OJPH) will launch the J5 EV soon. Heck, they just recently announced that the first units of the J5 EV are already in the country. Combined with the fact that OJPH will be at this year's Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), we can expect the J5 EV to make its official debut at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.

But if you thought OJPH would only launch one vehicle, the brand will actually show another vehicle at PIMS 2026. Based on a teaser photo the automaker released earlier this week, the J5 EV will be accompanied by a bigger vehicle. At first, we weren't sure of the vehicle the automaker teased besides the J5 EV. However, a quick look at the Department of Energy's (DOE) list of recognized plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) has given us a good idea of what to expect.

Based on the DOE's updated list of PHEVs, it looks like the refreshed Jaecoo J8 PHEV will be previewed at this year's PIMS. According to the DOE's listing, the Jaecoo J8 PHEV will apparently be available in three distinct variants: Luxury, Executive, and Flagship. All models will have a 1.5L turbocharged engine that makes 105 kW or 142 PS with 215 Nm of torque.

However, the Luxury is only available with FWD, thanks to a single electric motor and a 19.43 kWh battery pack. This gives the J8 PHEV Luxury a range of up to 90 km and a combined system output of 225 kW or 307 PS and 450 Nm of torque. It also has a combined range of up to 1,350 km, which is more than enough for long road trips.

As for the Executive and Flagship models of the J8 PHEV, it comes with a 34.46 kWh battery pack and a pair of electric motors (one on each axle). The result is a more powerful output of 315 kW or 428 PS and an impressive 580 Nm of torque. On battery power alone, the Executive and Flagship models are rated to travel up to 169 km, while their combined range is listed at 1,300 km.

Also worth mentioning about the J8 PHEV variants is that the Luxury and Executive models have seating for seven, while the Flagship model has seating for six. That means, we can expect the Flagship to come with captain seats on the middle row, while the Luxury and Executive models will likely come with a bench seat on the second row.

With PIMS 2026 only two weeks away, we're not surprised OJPH has started teasing its upcoming debuts. The only question now is, what will be the pricing of the J5 EV and the J8 PHEV models once revealed?
