LOOK: Did Honda just give a glimpse of next-gen Civic, Acura RDX?
Honda just showed its upcoming hybrids and perhaps its future design direction
With Honda now focusing more on hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) after the automaker pivoted from its original plan to go full EV by 2040, the brand just showed they are indeed serious about making more HEVs.
During the 2026 Honda Business Briefing that was held recently, the automaker revealed not one, but two distinct concepts that caught everyone's attention. While both vehicles have yet to receive official names, the Honda Hybrid Sedan Prototype and Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype evoke the brand's future design direction and redirection towards HEVs.

Beginning with the Hybrid Sedan Prototype, the fastback-inspired design of this concept looks like it was pulled straight out of the future. The front fascia features a Lamborghini-like design with its distinct LED daytime running lights, bold grille, and clamshell-style hood. The side profile, meanwhile, is sharp and tapers towards the rear, resulting in a clear-cut design. Last but not least are the massive two-tone alloy wheels and the floating roofline design, which further highlight the brand's new design direction.

Over to the Hybrid SUV Prototype by Acura, the signature LED daytime running lights complement a dynamic-looking front fascia that's distinctly Acura. Meanwhile, sharp angles, curvaceous lines, large alloy wheels, and a tall ride height highlight the concept's crossover SUV lineage. The rear, on the other hand, gets a bold set of LED taillights that look like claw marks, which complement the muscular curves on the rear wheel arches and D-pillars.
The production versions of the Hybrid Sedan and Hybrid SUV Prototypes will be revealed within two years, meaning we may be looking at the all-new Civic or Accord, as well as the next-gen RDX.

Other details about the concepts are not yet available, although we hope to learn more later in the year. Do you think the Honda Hybrid Sedan Prototype and the Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype will eventually lead to production models?
