Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has been relatively quiet at the start of the year. This is a stark contrast compared to 2025, when they launched several models. These include the all-new Kona HEV, the next-generation Elantra, the facelifted Creta, the second-generation Palisade with HEV power, the updated Ioniq 5, and the Ioniq 9 flagship EV.

With such a busy 2025, HMPH may be taking it slow in 2026. However, that could soon change, as the Korean automaker appears to be testing an upcoming vehicle.

Spotted somewhere in Makati recently was a camouflaged vehicle. Based on its shape and key exterior features, it appears the Hyundai Custin is set to receive a facelift for the 2026 model year. While the camouflage livery hides most of the vehicle, there are some telltale signs that it might be the updated Custin.

For starters, the mystery MPV has multi-spoke alloy wheels, which the refreshed Custin (AKA Custo in China) comes with. Then there are the updated LED taillights, which feature a bolder design than the current version. Last but not least are the rear sliding doors and the tailgate & rear bumper design, which are unique only to the Custin MPV.

A quick check at what the Chinese market gets has given us an idea of what to expect from the refreshed Custin. First is a redesigned front bumper and grille design, which gives the MPV a more upscale appearance. Then there are the aforementioned wheels, which replace the outgoing model's turbine-like design.

Inside, the cabin of the 2026 Custin has been largely carried over. That means interested buyers can expect to see the 10.4-inch touchscreen media display, a 4.2-inch digital instrument panel, and the button-style gear selector on the center console.

New, however, are some extra features like a rear wireless charging pad, ventilated captain seats on the second row, additional USB charging ports, and ambient lighting.

Under the hood, the PH-spec 2026 Custin could still be powered by a 1.5L turbocharged engine. It makes 170 PS at 5500 rpm with 253 Nm of torque at 1500 – 400 rpm and is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that drives the front wheels.

Hyundai Motor PH remains tight-lipped about the upcoming 2026 Custin. But given that the brand is reportedly testing a camouflaged vehicle that was recently spotted in Makati, perhaps it might not be long before the automaker launches it later this year.
