Back in April, we saw Chery reveal the Qq electric hatchback at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. It still features a hatchback design but lacks an engine under the hood. Instead, the Qq has an electric motor and a battery pack, which gives the Qq a range of more than 400 km, as claimed by Chery.

Chery Auto Philippines distributor United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) has already confirmed that the Qq is on its way to the Philippines. However, they have yet to announce when they plan to launch it in the country. Well, we need not wonder anymore, as UAAGI could hold the official debut very soon.

This comes after the Department of Energy (DOE) updated its list of recognized EVs and added the Chery Q. That's right, instead of having the Qq name, the PH-spec electric hatchback will instead be called the Chery Q, just like in Thailand.

Based on initial specifications listed by the DOE, the Chery Q will have a 41.28 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack and a single electric motor producing 90 kW or 120 PS with 115 Nm of torque. On a full charge, Chery says the Q can travel up to 420 km. The Chery Q supports both AC and DC fast charging and even comes with a 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) function. It also has a 3.5 kW portable charging unit so you can recharge the Q on the go.

Size-wise, the Chery Q will measure 4195mm long, 1811mm wide, and 1573mm tall on a 2700mm wheelbase. It also has a minimum turning radius of 5.2 meters, a curb weight of just over 1,360 kg, and a luggage space that can span between 375 and 1,450 liters.

With the Chery Q already receiving EV recognition from the DOE, it might not be long before UAAGI officially reveals it. Heck, perhaps we might see it at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show, which will happen from June 4 to June 7 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
