After appearing on the Department of Energy's (DOE) list of recognized electric vehicles (EVs) earlier this year, Omoda Jaecoo Motor PH (OJPH) has officially announced that its latest EV is now in the country.

That's right, the Jaecoo J5 EV has arrived in the Philippines, and it won't be long before OJPH holds its official launch in the country. According to the automaker, the J5 EV is not just about going electric; it's also about moving smarter, smoother, and further. With fuel prices still relatively high, those who wish to avoid the see-saw price movements of fuel can get the zero-emissions version of the J5.

Official specifications have yet to be revealed by the automaker. However, the DOE has already listed some of the J5 EV's initial specs. There will reportedly be two variants available of the J5 EV: Max and Standard. Both will be powered by a 58.9 kWh battery pack, which translates to a range of up to 461 km on a full charge.

Driving the J5 EV is a single electric motor that produces 155 kW or 210 PS with 288 Nm of torque. From a standstill, Jaecoo says the J5 EV can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. Meanwhile, the battery supports both AC and fast DC charging, with the former rated at 6.6 kW, while the latter can support up to 130 kW of fast recharging. This allows the J5 EV to charge from 30% to 80% in just 28 minutes via fast DC charging.

Other key available features on the Jaecoo J5 EV include 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, a power tailgate, a wireless charging pad for mobile devices, a pair of digital displays on the dashboard, and a suite of intelligent driver aids.

Size-wise, the J5 EV will measure 4380mm long, 1860mm wide, and 1650mm tall on a 2620mm wheelbase. It will also have a minimum ground clearance of 184mm and a water wading depth of up to 450mm.

With the Jaecoo J5 EV officially in the Philippines, expect more details about the upcoming crossover SUV in the coming weeks. Heck, we might see the big reveal at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) since OJPH confirmed their attendance on the upcoming show, which will happen from June 4 - 7 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.
