Type 01 is Jaguar's ambitious 1,000 HP super EV
Jaguar Type 01 makes over 1,000 HP and more than 1,300 Nm of torque
Back before the holidays in 2024, Jaguar surprised everyone when it rebranded as a fully electric automaker and revealed the Type 00 Concept. Enthusiasts and fans across the world were not pleased, as they collectively picked up torches and pitchforks (metaphorically, of course) over Jaguar's decision to rebrand, which garnered overwhelming backlash online.
Jaguar was then spotted last year testing a camouflaged prototype of the EV at the Nurburgring. Compared to the Type 00 Concept, the prototype was spotted with two additional doors, bigger windows, conventional LED taillights, and while appears to be a covered rear window.

Fast forward to 2026, Jaguar has officially revealed the name and production version of the Type 00 Concept. It's called the Type 01, and it's a luxury four-door GT. According to the British automaker, the 0 signifies zero tailpipe emissions, while the number 1 means the first of a new generation.
Jaguar says the “Type” designation is a direct callback to classic Jaguars of yesteryear and unites the brand's history of innovation in design, technology, and performance. More importantly, the automaker says the Type 01 will deliver more than 1,000 PS and over 1,300 Nm of torque, thanks to three electric motors.

“We have reimagined Jaguar for a new era, with inspiration from what has gone before. Our engineers have achieved this with a vehicle that looks and drives like no other electric car, yet reflects a unique provenance. The Type 01 name is part of that story – for me, the zero also signifies a complete brand reset, and the '1', our first car for a new chapter, a 'one of a kind!,” said Rawdon Glover, Managing Director, Jaguar.
Beyond that, the automaker also said the Type 01 will have an intelligent AWD system courtesy of Jaguar TCS Racing, fast-switching silicon carbide-powered inverters, regenerative braking, and fast-charging capability.

Jaguar even brought the Type 01 to the Monaco E-Prix over the weekend, wearing a distinct camouflage livery. While most of the exterior is still hidden behind the livery, it's quite apparent that the Type 01 has the 00 Concept's profile, fastback rear, and massive alloy wheels.

With Jaguar already revealing the name and design of the production EV, we might not have to wait long for the big reveal. The only question now is, how will the public react since the Philippines is also part of Jaguar's rebrand?
