One of the standout moments at the recently concluded Chery International Business Summit in China was Omoda & Jaecoo’s unveiling of its latest Valet Parking Driver (VPD) technology, which was presented to a global audience through a live, real-world demonstration.

Positioned as a smart, Gen Z–friendly solution to everyday parking challenges, the autonomous system is designed to tackle tight spaces and complex maneuvers, delivering a more relaxed, tech-driven approach to urban driving.

Aside from parking itself, it also comes with two key features: “Come When Called,” which lets users summon their vehicle remotely, and “Leave When Waved,” allowing the car to autonomously find and park itself.

These functions were put to the test in complex scenarios, ranging from crowded mall parking lots to narrow, dead-end spaces where the system demonstrated smooth navigation, obstacle avoidance, and precise positioning.

To demonstrate the technology and how it applies to everyday situations, a human vs. machine challenge took place, where VPD went head-to-head with an experienced driver. The result: the system completed parking tasks faster, with fewer adjustments and greater accuracy, proving its capability in even the toughest conditions.

Overall, the global test marks a significant step forward for VPD, showing how intelligent parking technology can remove the stress from driving and make even the most challenging parking situations feel effortless, especially for younger, city-based drivers.
