Should GAC PH bring the facelifted M6 MPV?
GAC updates the M6 Pro MPV in China and calls it the M6 Max
When it comes to MPVs, GAC Philippines has two models available for customers. First is the luxurious GN8 PHEV (formerly known as the M8 PHEV) and the turbocharged M8, which competes against the likes of the Toyota Alphard and BYD eMax 9 DM-i.
But for those who prefer something a bit more affordable but still offer plenty of features, there's the M6 Pro. First launched in the Philippine market around two years ago, the stylish yet feature-packed MPV undercuts the likes of the MG G50 and Toyota Zenix but stops short of having a hybrid powertrain. However, the upcoming GAC E8 HEV could give the Zenix Hybrid (and perhaps the G50 PHEV) something to think about once it's revealed.

Two years since it made its Philippine debut, and the GAC M6 Pro could use an update. Well, the Chinese market gets first dibs on the refreshed version of the turbocharged compact MPV. This is the 2026 GAC M6 Max, and despite having a different name, it's essentially the facelifted (and upgraded) version of the M6 Pro.
Beginning with the exterior changes, the M6 Max features a redesigned front fascia, which now comes with a bolder grille with a chrome-like finish and bigger vertical side intakes. The LED headlights & daytime running lights appear to have been updated as well to go with the refreshed front end.

The rest of the exterior appears to have been carried over, including the doors, side panels, and LED taillights. However, the M6 Max does come with new alloy wheel designs to give the MPV a fresher look.
While the exterior only received minor changes, GAC was busier with the interior. The dashboard has been given a makeover and now comes with a massive touchscreen infotainment system, along with a fully digital instrument panel. The center console was also given attention and now has dual wireless charging pads to recharge mobile devices.

So where is the gear selector now? Well, like most Chinese vehicles today, GAC gave the M6 Max an electronic column shifter. The result is more space on the center console and easier manipulation of the 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission for the driver. Beyond that, GAC has also given the M6 Max a new two-tone cabin to complement the more dashing interior.
Just like the M6 Pro, the M6 Max comes with captain seats on the second row and a full bench at the very back. Not only do the captain seats come with armrests, but they also come with folding ottomans for a comfier ride. Moreover, both the front and second-row seats come with heating and ventilation functions for that extra bit of comfort during hot or cold days.

Under the hood, the M6 Max gets the same turbocharged powertrain as the M6 Pro. It displaces 1.5L and makes 177 PS with 270 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via the aforementioned 7-speed wet DCT.
With the GAC M6 Max now available in its home market, we're curious if GAC Philippines has any plans to bring it here. After all, the M6 Pro is due for a minor model change and could use a refresh.
