Believe it or not, the Corolla has been with us for six decades. Since its launch way back in 1966, the Toyota Corolla nameplate has established itself as one of the most popular compact cars across global markets. Available in sedan, hatchback, and wagon forms, the Corolla has endured, evolved, and continues to offer high-quality at affordable prices.

To celebrate its 60th birthday, Toyota has revealed the 60th Anniversary Editions of the Corolla Active Sport and Corolla Touring Active Sport in Japan.

Revealed alongside minor updates to both the sedan and wagon body styles, the 60th Anniversary Edition models of the Corolla feature exclusive front bumpers and rocker moldings that give the vehicle a sportier look.

The sedan version gets body color finishes for the bumper and rocker panels, while the wagon version gets a Neutral Black finish. They also have 60th anniversary commemorative logos on the front fenders to remind everyone this is no ordinary Corolla.

Other exterior updates include 17-inch black alloy wheels, new color options for both body styles: Neutral Black and Emotion Red II, and smart keyless entry.

Inside, Toyota put a laser-engraved 60th Anniversary logo on the dashboard, which reflects the one placed on the front fenders. The rest of the cabin, meanwhile, gets new black & dark gray front sport seats to give the interior a more sophisticated look.

Under the hood, the 60th Anniversary Edition of the Corolla gets the carried over 2ZR-FXE 1.8L hybrid inline-four, which delivers a combined 140 PS. It's available with either E-Four AWD or with the standard FWD layout. Those who choose to get the latter will benefit from a tuned suspension, as well as optimized steering.

In the future, Toyota will also introduce 60th Anniversary Editions of the Corolla Sport and the Corolla Cross later in the year. Hopefully, Toyota makes the 60th Anniversary special models of the Corolla available to other markets outside Japan. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the Philippines will be included.
