2026 is shaping up to be the year where Mitsubishi Motors Philippines could finally offer something electrified again.

A few weeks ago, MMPC received regulatory approval for a vehicle that matches the figures and engine displacement of the fourth-generation Outlander PHEV. Guess what popped up in the Department of Energy’s recognized PHEV list recently – yep – it’s indeed the Outlander PHEV.

Based on the DOE filing, the Outlander PHEV we’re getting is likely to be similar to what markets like Japan, Australia, and the US are getting – an updated powertrain with more power, greater all-electric range, reworked suspension, bigger screens inside, and a more upscale interior fitted with the Yamaha premium sound system.

It has a 2.4-liter gasoline engine paired to two electric motors and a 22.7 kWh battery, making up its plug-in hybrid system. Interestingly, the maximum electric power generated by the PH-spec model is at 251 PS, but other markets are already producing 306 PS.

Based on what other markets are getting, the updated Outlander PHEV has an improved overall range of 844 km thanks to a bigger 53-liter fuel tank capacity, and an all-electric range of 84 km.

With the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show set to be a major launchpad for Japanese brands present in the market, the Outlander PHEV appearing at the show is looking more and more like a possibility. Hopefully, Mitsubishi could price it right once they launch the model.
